Mulholland Drive is staggered with lookout points that overlook secluded mansions. Ostensibly an opportunity to observe nature, they sit along a well-worn route of Hollywood Star tours. Peri-Tetrascope is a performative viewfinder that suggests an enhanced view of celebrity properties, but creates intimate views of much closer individuals. Viewers must bring themselves face to face with the wearer in order to see through one of the lenses. Looking at, looking into, and looking past become complicated and intertwined. The rear lenses further complicate the viewership by pointing one’s gaze to the face of another viewer, creating a situation of recursive eye contact.
