Cogni-Crypsis explores non-human sentience through hallucinatory distortions, displacements, and camouflaging. A humanoid robot named Quori is designed to interact with humans in human-built environments, but in this work a real robot, real architecture, and real human concerns merge with ambiguous spaces and AI extrapolations to produce confounding mimicry. Ultimately both the humanoid form and the potential for cognition are suspect, hidden and transformed.

Cogni-Crypsis was part of the 2025 Digerati Experimental Media Festival and curated by Sharifa Lafon, Executive Director and Curator of Denver Digerati.
